FAQs
How will the people of northern Uganda benefit from the NUDEIL program?
The NUDEIL program infuses cash into the local economy through the rehabilitation and/or construction of infrastructure by emphasizing maximum use of labor-intensive methods and local materials in construction projects and by providing the local community with cash-for-work jobs and opportunities to sell material to NUDEIL project contractors.
What is the difference between NUDEIL and other humanitarian programs in northern Uganda?
NUDEIL is designed to shift the type of assistance to the region from the Northern Uganda Transition Initiative program and other relief to recovery programs to a more stable development program that links improved local governance and community decision-making with the provision of social service infrastructure through labor-intensive construction methods. Unlike other programs, NUDEIL is implemented by District Local Governments.
Who implements and manages the NUDEIL program?
The implementation of NUDEIL is facilitated through the GOU’s District Local Government and private contracting firms selected competitively through the District tendering process. Winrock International, contracted by USAID, provides technical support to target District Administrations.
